Summary: This study entitled "Reading Level and Academic Performance in Mathematics" is conducted at Dona Matilde Memorial Elementary School in the district of Lemery, Division of Batangas. It aims to determine the reading level using the Phil-IRI materials and the academic performance in Mathematics of the pupils and to see its significant relationships. This study comprised the 100% of the Grade 4 pupils as the respondents of the study. It utilized the descriptive correlational design as method of gathering and analyzing data. It mad use of frequency, percentage and t-test and Pearson-r to determine their significant relationships. It was found out in the study that poor academic performance in Mathematics is attributed also to poor reading comprehension of the pupils, that there is a significant relationship between the reading level and academic performance in Mathematics.
